Dear Nikken Friends,

My first introduction to magnets for health was about 25 years ago through a lady who experienced a horrific car accident.  She told me that a Japanese magnetic sleeping pad had given her a complete recovery.  Years later, my memory of this incident had a lot to do with my initial attraction to Nikken.  

At my first Wellness Preview the sleep system was emphasized.  Nikken was referred to as the “Sleeping Giant”… a sort of word play highlighting the idea of being on the ground floor of a billion dollar Japanese Company (Giant) and that (Sleeping) on magnets could dramatically change your whole life.

Much of this meeting was explaining and demonstrating product.  It was a very soft-sell  “show-and-tell” experience.  We had folks sign up and buy products right at the meeting!  My own rollout experience was WONDERFUL!!!   I felt a noticeable difference for a couple of days.  I was told that a key to launching my business was to go out and do rollouts.  That was the culture of Nikken.  

“ABC’s” always included demos.  My goal was to do a couple of meetings every night. Most Americans are chronically deprived of sleep, and when I would go into their homes I could certainly confirm this just by looking at them!  Many of them really looked stressed out from their workday.  It’s fun to make people feel good.   Not only did they enjoy the rollout - I would hear things such as: “I’ll give you an hour to quit that!” - you could just see their stress melt away.  Some would even fall asleep right on the pad.   Over and over again we had people with aches and pains that would vanish right during the demo.  I walked away with a lot of sales…and hugs!

At this point I had been in Network Marketing for 15 years.  I had never seen anything like Nikken.   Here was a “business person’s dream” a high-ticket item that no one had seen before.  Often in mere minutes a rollout profoundly changed their whole lives giving them a product experience that was unmatched by any other product. Now they had to have it!  I was totally astounded how fast my income went up.

Basic to launching my business was doing lots of rollouts and teaching other people to do the same and generating enormous volume with a relatively small base of people.

The current wisdom I had always heard was multi level marketing is about getting a lot of people to do a little bit.  Here we were almost turning this around, we were generating big volume with fewer people.  Of course long term we want to get lots of people to do a whole lot!

Dr. Dement co-discovered REM sleep (Rapid Eye Movement or dream sleep) in 1951.  Also studies done as early as the 1950s by the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association all showed that quality of sleep predicts how long you will live.

Sleep is fundamental to our whole physiology.  Our bodies are not built to run 24 hours a day.  We have to sleep!  The body goes through 4-5 cycles each night while sleeping.  Anywhere from a deep sleep to dream sleep.

Your body clock includes changes in core temperature through a 24-hour cycle, and its important for good health to stay on this cycle.  Americans sleep 2 hours less per night on average than they did in the early 1900s.  Let’s say that instead of going to sleep at 10:00PM you wait until 12:00 midnight.  The first 1/3 of your night’s sleep is the most important.  It’s during these first 2 hours that your immune system recharges, when killer cells and T cells are produced, it is the only time that human growth hormone is produced, along with a whole lot of other things.  If you miss it, you miss it for the full 24-hour cycle.

The body is exposed to germs, bacteria, viruses, and other challenges all day long. Our immune system does a very good job at fighting these insults.  If you do not get that immune system recharge, your defenses against all the environmental garbage will break down.  If you wake up during any of the cycles you will miss whatever stage is coming next.  The “sleep cycle” train won’t wait for you, it will leave the station.
